Sponsorship Program For Cyclone Nargis Orphans

Nargis hit Myanmar's Irrawaddy Delta on May 2nd
2008 leaving an estimated 140,000 people dead and
severely affecting 2.4 million people. The ruling
Junta was slow to help with the rescue and aid.
They barred foreign assistance and turned away foreign
aid.We have worked in Myanmar since 1987 and because
of this we were able to quickly get the funds to
our workers to bring vital help and aid to some
of the worst hit villages. |

| In
their desperation the people in the villages decided to
bring the orphans to Reaching the World Headquarters in
Yangon. They looked to us for a way to help the children.
Our funds are stretched to the limit and we can not take
on another orphanage. In spite of this our hearts refuse
to abandon these children. |
| We
have decided to do a sponsorship program to raise the
funds to establish a Children's Home in Yangon, Myanmar.
Our desire is to help these children and give them a hope
and a future. As our Director in Myanmar says, "These
children are the future church and leaders for Myanmar". |
| We
can give a child food, clothing, education and housing
for $20 or £15 a month. We are looking for
people to sponsor a child with a one year commitment
in order to set up and establish a Children's Home.We
have rented a house near our headquarters to temporarily
house the children. A couple that have recently
graduated from the Reaching the World Bible College
in Yangon will oversee the care of the children
and the running of the Children's Home. |

| At
the moment we have 18 children aged between 4 and 15 years
old. Some do not have basic education and are suffering
from malnutrition. Their health and education is our first
priority. We are privileged to be able to have a part
in these precious lives. Together we can give them a hope
and a future. |

A monthly sponsorship of $20 or £15 to an individual
child.

Help us to find sponsors for the children by giving
this information to other individuals, churches, and
youth groups who would like to sponsor a child as part
of their mission outreach.

% of all funds raised for this project will go to the
Children's Home in Myanmar.
