2009
Dear Partners and Friends,
We
wish you a very happy and prosperous New Year!
We declare this year 2009 to be a year of blessing
and favor for you and your family.
We
are happy to report that our trip to the UK
and Myanmar went very well. Thank you for your
gifts and prayers toward this trip. We returned
two weeks before Christmas and were able to
spend the holidays with family.
It
was a very special time to be reunited with
our friends and coworkers in Myanmar and the
UK. We were able to go to England, Ireland and
Scotland and then off to Singapore and Myanmar.
Our time in Thailand had to be cancelled because
of the trouble at Bangkok airport. This caused
us to have to believe God to even get out of
Myanmar and back to Singapore to make our connecting
flights. God was faithful and we were able to
purchase the last two seats on the last
flight that would allow us to make our connection.
In
Myanmar we saw the progress in the rebuilding
of our headquarters and homes and rejoice with
them in the love and faithfulness of God. We
thank God that we were able to help and be a
part of bringing aid. Roger and Mary both spoke
at the Bible School and were blessed to see
the students hunger for the things of God. These
young people are eager to go out and do the
work of the ministry, teaching, preaching and
establishing churches.
We
also went to Taunyggi and spoke at the church
and Training Center. On Thanksgiving Day while
we were speaking at the center the children
from the Nazareth Children's Home took the day
off of school because we were there. They all
crowed onto a bus and came to see us. It
brought Mary to tears to see them pour off the
bus and rush to greet us. Roger had to explain
that it was tears of joy to see them. After
the meeting the ministry prepared a meal for
all the people,
children and visiting pastors and we all ate
together. It was a very special Thanksgiving
Day.
The
highlight of our trip was to visit the Nazareth
Children's Home and to see the new home for
the high school children. This home was built
in memory of Roger's father Robert King. It
is a large building to house the children with
a sewing workshop to teach the girls a skill.
They make bags and Bible covers from traditional
fabric and sell them at a local shop.
We
were overjoyed to see how much has been accomplished
in a few years. The children are healthy and
happy and serving the Lord. One of the older
girls that finished school is now going to Bible
School. We want to say a special thank you to
our partners for this great opportunity to be
a part of changing the children's lives from
hopelessness to blessing and a hope for the
future. We were deeply touched by their love
and gratitude.
